What is the Good News?

We were/are dead in our sins.

Genesis 3 discusses the fall of man as Adam and Eve chose to sin against God. This sin had a generational impact, spreading to all mankind (Romans 5:12) as all men fall short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23). We are slaves to this sin (John 8:34) and dead in our ways (Ephesians 2:1-3).

God sent Jesus to pay the price for our sins.

But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us (Romans 5:8). God sent His Son, Jesus, who humbled Himself, took the form of man (John 1:14), died on the cross for our sins (1 Peter 2:24), and rose again to offer us salvation (1 Peter 1:3).

We are called to accept Jesus as our Savior.

We are called to respond to this great gift that God has given us by believing in Jesus as our Savior (John 3:36). We are called to confess that Jesus is Lord (Romans 10:9-10) and repent from our sinful ways (Mark 1:14-15).

We are made alive in Christ.

We are born again! We access life in Christ, and we are free. Free indeed. We will inherit the kingdom of God where Jesus is King (Matthew 25:34).
